Attention Hamilton, ON babes! You can snap up Issue One of BUSH Magazine at my favourite local boutique, Girl on the Wing.
I am so excited to announce that Issue One of BUSH Magazine is here!
Taking on a project like a fashion magazine for the first time was a wild learning experience and I'm so proud of what we've made. I'll be posting more features and behind the scenes tidbits of putting it all together but for now, check out our cover babe, Mo Handahu. Based out of Halifax, this fashion queen is forever an inspiration for my style. Fun fact: In addition to blogging, styling, and contributing to Canadian fashion magazines, Mo has her own line of skirts called The Tutu Experience. She even made this gorgeous yellow dress that we featured on the cover! I so hope you will check out BUSH and be a part of the movement towards beauty diversity and everyone feeling good in how they choose to express themselves. xo Amarina I first discovered Lacey Micallef on tumblr. She is such a badass and I quickly became obsessed with her art and her Instagram account. She has the ability to turn something simple into high art, whether it be the Space Dog Go app, or in a picture of a shower drain with a fake nail beside it.
About 3 months ago, Lacey launched Big Bud Press, a pin company that has added woven patches and totes. Each piece is designed by Lacey, but she also collaborates with other artists such as Buried Diamond, Chris Uphues, and Alex Martinez. We are crushing hard on Lacey and Big Bud Press so check it out! He has taken my favourite photos of Seth Bogart of Hunx & His Punx. Amos has two publications under his belt: Original Plumbing and Translady Fanzine. Original Plumbing is a theme based publication dedicated to trans male culture. The latest theme was the lit issue, and past themes include party, hero, and family. For Translady Fanzine, Amos teams up with one model to put together a limited edition high art, photographic zine, a collaboration between model and photographer, trans woman and trans man.
The first issues features Zackary Drucker, an independent artist, cultural producer, and trans woman. This edition of Follow This goes out to @blacmagic_woman. BUSH loves instagram and this is the perfect example why. I love the 70s vibe that every photo brings, even when she is wearing a 90s inspired outfit. xoxo Stina
